A bathtub, a swimming pool and spacious rooms - these were the luxurious facilities found inside an illegally-built religious site that was demolished by authorities in Gujarat's Jamnagar, police said.

The demolition of the illegal religious site, built in an area of about 11,000 square feet, was done along with other structures that came up in the city's Bachchu Nagar area. Police suspect that the religious site was being used for illegal activities.

Jamnagar Superintendent of Police (SP) Premsukh Delu said the encroachments had blocked the flow of the Naagmati river and the demolition drive was being done to restore the river's flow.

"The religious site was built at an area of 11,000 square feet, which impacted the flow of the river. When it came to the police's notice, we demolished the religious site and other illegal structures. We found a farm house, swimming pool, bathtub and spacious rooms in the religious site," SP Delu said.

Interestingly, there was a written announcement that no money of any kind was accepted at the religious site, raising questions about who funded the construction of such luxurious facilities.

During the demolition, police found several spacious rooms decorated with colourful and attractive marble tiles. There was a separate special room constructed in which a state-of-the-art bath tub was found.

A separate notice was pasted on the door of the room with the bathtub, stating that no outsider was allowed to enter it.

The owners of the illegal religious site have gone missing and the police launched a manhunt to catch them.
