As many as 15 people were taken into custody as teams of the National Investigation Agency on Saturday conducted raids at 41 locations across Maharashtra and Karnataka in an ongoing Islamic State terror conspiracy case.

Those arrested were from Pune and were linked to the Islamic State.

According to the details, the raids were underway at some locations in Karnataka, while in Maharashtra, the raids were being conducted in Pune, Thane Rural, Thane city and Mira Bhayandar.

Sources with the National Investigation Agency said they uncovered a larger conspiracy with international connections and the involvement of foreign-based ISIS handlers in the ongoing case.

The investigation has unveiled a complex network of individuals committed to propagating the extremist ideology of ISIS within India.

This network took an oath of allegiance (Bayath) to the self-styled Khalifa (leader) of ISIS and was found to be involved in the fabrication of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), they said.

The network intended to carry out acts of terrorism on Indian soil, they added.
