A fire broke out in Sector 18 of Maha Kumbh in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj on Friday. The fire spread across over 20 tents in Hariharanand Camp on Shankaracharya Marg. Fire tenders immediately rushed to the spot, and the fire has now been doused.

Visuals showed several tents being affected by the fire. Several devotees were seen running to shelter and panicking. One of the seers, visibly distraught over the incident, was being consoled by the people present there.

No casualties have been reported so far due to the fire. The reason behind the fire is not clear yet.

According to a police official, “The fire has been brought under control. It began from ISKCON and then other tents also caught fire. There has been no loss of lives or burn injuries. Around 20-22 tents are burnt."

This comes a week after a fire broke out in 15 tents at the Maha Kumbh Mela on January 30.

Earlier, a massive fire had broken out at the Maha Kumbh on January 19 after the explosion of around three gas cylinders in the Sector 19 campsite area. The fire department quickly responded and managed to bring the blaze under control. No casualties were reported due to the fire.
