5 killed, 40 injured in stage collapse at 'laddoo' ceremony in UP's Baghpat

A stage collapsed at a Jain Nirvana festival in Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat on Tuesday morning, killing 5 and injuring dozens, including women and children.

A stage collapsed at a Jain Nirvana festival in Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat on Tuesday morning, killing 5 and injuring dozens, including women and children.

The incident happened when a makeshift stage, made out of bamboo and wood, collapsed during a laddoo ceremony. According to police officials, hundreds of devotees reached the spot to offer laddoos to Lord Adinath in the presence of Jain monks

"This event has been conducted for nearly 30 years. At least 40 people have been injured. They have been admitted to the hospital and are undergoing treatment. Twenty people have already been released after administering first aid," said Baghpat's District Magistrate Asmita Lal.

Officials, including senior police officials, rushed to the spot with a large police force to manage the situation. The injured were immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.
