The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested four people, including two women, for allegedly supplying a weapon to the shooters involved in the firing at Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai. The accused, identified as Kunal, Sumit, Radha and Babita, were caught on October 20 in Delhi and Haryana, respectively, as police busted an alleged weapons supply module linked to gangster Anil Pandit.

According to the police, Kunal, 21, and Sumit, 19, are residents of Sonipat in Haryana, while Radha, 23, and Babita, 23, hail from Uttar Pradesh. Radha and Babita were allegedly working as couriers for the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and travelled by train to Mumbai with a pistol and ammunition before handing over the bag to a minor boy.

The four accused were produced before a court by the Delhi Police Special Cell. Mumbai Police’s Crime Investigation Department (CID) then sought permission to formally arrest and question them in custody. The court approved the request and granted Mumbai Police three days’ transit remand to take them to Mumbai.

Earlier, three alleged shooters, two from Haryana and one from Bihar, were arrested by Kota Police in Rajasthan in connection with the incident. They were subsequently handed over to Mumbai Police for further investigation.

HOW THE WEAPON REACHED MUMBAI

According to the police, Kunal had recently been released from jail on bail when a friend from Harsana village introduced him to Anil Pandit. Kunal allegedly began communicating with Pandit through an encrypted messaging application.

On Pandit’s instructions, Kunal collected a pistol and 20 rounds of ammunition from Amritsar. Around two months before the firing, he allegedly met Radha, told her about his activities and developed a relationship with her before persuading her to travel to Mumbai with the weapon.

On October 15, Kunal allegedly took Radha and Babita to New Delhi Railway Station. The pistol was in Radha’s bag, and Kunal remained in contact with the women through an encrypted application during their journey, relaying instructions from Pandit, police said.

The women reached Mumbai on October 17, got off at Dadar and checked into a hotel. At around 11 am, a minor boy allegedly collected the bag from Radha near the hotel.

LINK TO TIGER SHROFF FIRING

The firing at Shroff’s car took place in Mumbai’s Juhu area on October 18. Three unidentified men riding a motorcycle allegedly opened fire at the actor’s vehicle. Shroff escaped unhurt, while his driver and a passerby sustained injuries.

Police said Pandit contacted Kunal after the firing and told him that the shooters were stuck in Mumbai, asking him to arrange their escape.

Radha and Babita left Mumbai for Delhi on October 18 aboard the Dadar-Haridwar Express. They were apprehended at New Delhi Railway Station on October 20, while Kunal and Sumit were arrested in Sonipat.

Investigators are probing the alleged links between the accused, Pandit and the shooters, as well as the movement of weapons and the communications used to coordinate the operation.
