4 killed, 27 injured in Punjab firecracker factory blast; several feared trapped

Four migrant workers died and around 27 were injured in a blast at a firecracker factory in Punjab's Sri Muktsar Sahib. The cause of the explosion is under investigation.

An explosion rocked a firecracker manufacturing and packaging factory near Lambi village in Sri Muktsar Sahib district on Friday, killing four migrant labourers and injuring nearly 27 others. Authorities fear several more workers may still be trapped inside the factory.

The blast occurred at a two-storey factory located on Singhawali-Kotli road in Sri Muktsar Sahib's Lambi area. Late last night, a blast occurred at a firecracker factory...Almost 50 labourers work in the factory. Four bodies have been recovered and 27 injured have been admitted to the hospital", Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Jaspal Singh, told news agency ANI

Following the explosion, emergency response teams, including police and medical personnel, were rushed to the site. The injured were transported to AIIMS Bathinda for treatment, while rescue efforts continue to locate those potentially trapped inside.

The cause of the blast remains unclear, and an investigation is underway.
