The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has unveiled its sprawling new office complex, Keshav Kunj, in New Delhi. The office is a state-of-the-art, eco-friendly facility funded entirely by public contributions amounting to Rs 150 crore.

Spanning 5 lakh square feet across a 4-acre plot, the high-rise complex comprises three towering buildings, residential quarters, a library with 8,500 books, and a five-bed hospital among other features.

The foundation for the original RSS office in Delhi was laid in 1939, serving as a pivotal centre for the organisation. The first-floor construction commenced in 1969, followed by the second floor in 1980. Now, 50 years after the first karyalaya’s construction, the organisation has expanded its footprint with this state-of-the-art facility.

One of the tower houses a library.

The towering structure of Keshav Kunj consists of three high-rise towers, each G+12 floors, catering to different operational needs:

  • Sadhna Tower (Tower 1): Serves as the Prant Karyalaya with administrative offices. The tenth floor houses a library, boasting 8,500 books, open to the public.

  • Prerna Tower (Tower 2): Designed for Pravasi Karyakartas, offering accommodation and workspace. The ninth floor features a dedicated hall for journalists. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat will stay in this building whenever he visits the national capital.

  • Archana Tower (Tower 3): Allocated for supportive staff and visiting members from other cities, featuring 80 rooms for their stay.

The facility includes a clinic on the ground floor and a five-bed hospital to serve residents and visitors. The bhojnalaya has a seating capacity for 80 people at a time.

PEOPLE-FUNDED PROJECT

The construction of Keshav Kunj has been entirely funded by public contributions, amounting to Rs 150 crore. A remarkable 75,000 people have supported this initiative, with donations ranging from Rs 5 to larger contributions.

ECO-FRIENDLY FEATURES

In alignment with sustainable development, Keshav Kunj is designed as a green building, prioritising eco-friendly practices:

  • Solar power will be the primary source of electricity.

  • Sewage treatment will be managed within the building.

  • 1,000 granite chaukhats, avoiding the use of wood, ensuring minimal environmental impact.

The building is secured with CCTV surveillance and CISF security personnel manning the premises, ensuring safety and order.

RSS LEGACY

RSS plans to organise an exhibition within the building to showcase its ethos and legacy. The organisation currently has 3,500 full-time pracharaks across India, and this new facility will serve as a hub for its expanding network.

Though the RSS headquarters remains in Nagpur, the establishment of Keshav Kunj in Delhi reinforces the organization’s strong presence in India’s capital.
