Erika Kirk, wife of the late conservative speaker and MAGA activist Charlie Kirk, delivered her first public address on Friday, just days after her husband was fatally shot during a debate event at Utah Valley University. In a moving tribute, she expressed deep gratitude to law enforcement, political leaders, and close friends for their support while reflecting on her husband’s legacy and the devastating impact of his loss.
Speaking from a podium adorned with a portrait of her late husband, Erika Kirk thanked authorities for their swift action in apprehending the suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, who was arrested after a three-day manhunt.
“They worked tirelessly to capture my husband’s assassin so that he can be brought to justice," she said.
Turning emotional, Erika spoke about the personal toll the tragedy has taken on their young family, recounting a heartbreaking moment with their daughter. “When I got home last night, my daughter Gigi ran into my arms. She said, ‘Mommy, I missed you. Where’s daddy?’" she shared.
Erika also extended heartfelt thanks to President Donald Trump, as well as Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance, who she described as “dear friends" of her late husband. Their presence and support, she said, had meant the world to her during this time of immense grief. “You guys honoured my husband so well, bringing him home. You both are tremendous," she told the Vice President and his wife.
She recalled her husband’s vision for America, noting that one of his core beliefs was centred around restoring traditional values. “If he ever ran for office," she said, “he intended to make it his top priority to revive the American family."
In a pointed statement, Erika condemned those responsible for the assassination, describing their actions as a blow not just to her family, but to the nation. “The evildoers responsible for my husband’s assassination have no idea what they have done."
Closing her address, Erika delivered a heartfelt promise to uphold Charlie Kirk’s mission and legacy. “I know my husband is still here. He is watching over us. I couldn’t sleep last night— and Charlie, I promise, I will never let your legacy die. I will make Turning Point the biggest it has ever been." She also mentioned that the campus tour will continue, with more tours to come. “He never gave up. One of his mottos was never surrender. So I want to tell that we will never surrender," says Erika in a defiant tone.
Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was known for his staunch conservative views and was a key figure in the MAGA movement. His death has sent shockwaves across the political landscape, drawing widespread reaction from allies and critics alike.
