US President Donald Trump on Monday said that military strikes on Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure will be postponed for five days following “very good and productive" talks with Iran.

“I am pleased to report that the United States of America, and the country of Iran, have had, over the last two days, very good and productive conversations regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East," he wrote, in all capitals, early on his Truth Social platform.

Trump said that the US and Iran have had two days of detailed discussions aimed at a complete resolution of hostilities in the Middle East.

The American leader also noted that he had instructed the US Department of War to hold off on all planned strikes for a five‑day period.

“Based on the tenor and tone of these in‑depth, detailed, and constructive conversations, which will continue throughout the week, I have instructed the Department of War to postpone any and all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five‑day period, subject to the success of the ongoing meetings and discussions," he wrote on Truth Social.

The US President’s statement comes just a day after he issued an ultimatum to the Islamic Republic, demanding that Tehran reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping route for oil and gas.

Despite diplomatic signals, the situation on the ground remains volatile. While Trump's announcement signalled a potential easing of tension, Israel continued to strike Iran on Monday. Soon after Trump's Truth Social post, Israel said its military is conducting strikes in the heart of Tehra, as per Reuters report.
