Senior Hezbollah commander Sheikh Muhammad Ali Hammadi, who was on FBI's most-wanted list, was shot dead in front of his house in eastern Lebanon, according to reports.

Hammadi died on the spot on Tuesday night as unidentified assailants opened fire and shot the senior Hezbollah official six times.

Ruling out any political angle, local reports claim that Hammadi was killed over a years-long family feud.

Hammadi came under FBI's radar after he had hijacked a West German plane in 1985, carrying 153 passengers. He was reportedly involved in the torturing and killing of an American national on the flight.

The incident comes amid the ongoing ceasefire deal between Israel and Lebanon. In 2023, Hezbollah had joined Hamas' war against Israel.

Last year, Israel infiltrated Hezbollah's supply chain, causing several walkie-talkies and pagers to explode across Syria and Israel. Upping the ante, Israel eliminated at least seven top-ranked Hezollah commanders, including Hassan Nasrallah, and invaded southern Lebanon in the weeks leading to the ceasefire deal.
