Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday called for the creation of alternatives to pornographic content, suggesting that something more "interesting and passionate" should be developed to capture people’s attention.

In an interview with Russia Today, Putin acknowledged the widespread global popularity of adult content, emphasising that this is not just an issue in Russia but one that affects the entire world.

"Porn sites are visited all across the world. It is not just an issue for us, but for everyone," Putin remarked. While recognising that banning such content could be one approach, the Russian President argued that it is more important to provide alternatives that are more compelling than adult content.

"There can be bans and prohibitions, but one has to always come up with alternatives — something more engaging and more interesting than a porn website to fill the void that causes greater interest," he added.

PUTIN'S 'HAVE SEX DURING WORK BREAKS' MESSAGE FOR RUSSIANS

Russian President Vladimir Putin recently sparked attention with his unusual suggestions aimed at addressing the country's declining birth rate.

According to reports, Putin advised Russians to engage in sexual activity during their lunch and coffee breaks at work, encouraging the practice as a way to boost the nation's fertility rate.

This remark came amid concerns that Russia's fertility rate, currently around 1.5 children per woman, is significantly below the 2.1 required for population stability.

In response, the Kremlin has introduced various initiatives to address the issue, including offering free fertility screenings for women aged 18 to 40 in Moscow, aimed at assessing their reproductive health.
