A television news helicopter crashed while covering a deadly Metro bus crash in Los Angeles. The aircraft, which is said to belong to NBC Los Angeles (KNBC-TV), came down near the intersection of Nordhoff Street and De Soto Avenue in the San Fernando Valley, close to where a Metro bus and an SUV had collided earlier. At least two people were reportedly killed in the bus crash, with multiple others injured.

The helicopter appeared to have crashed between two buildings, landing on top of two shipping containers and several vehicles parked in the area. A large fire broke out following the crash, with Los Angeles firefighters responding to extinguish the flames.

The circumstances surrounding the helicopter crash were not immediately clear. There was no immediate word on casualties among those aboard the aircraft.

The helicopter was operated by NBC Los Angeles, also known as NBC4 or KNBC-TV. The station identifies KNBC as NBC’s flagship West Coast station.

The helicopter had been providing aerial coverage of the earlier crash, which occurred near Nordhoff Street and De Soto Avenue. Firefighters had been called to rescue people trapped in the Metro bus following the collision.

Authorities were investigating the cause of the helicopter crash.
