Indian stabbed to death in Canada's Ottawa, suspect taken into custody: Embassy

The Indian embassy in Canada confirmed the incident on X and said it was in touch with the victim's family. Authorities have not disclosed the cause of death or whether any charges have been filed.

An Indian national was killed in a stabbing incident in Rockland, a town near Ottawa, Canada. Local police have taken a suspect into custody, though further details about the circumstances of the attack remain unknown.

The Indian embassy in Canada confirmed the incident on X and said it was in touch with the victim's family. "We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of an Indian national in Rockland near Ottawa, due to stabbing. Police has stated a suspect has been taken into custody. We are in close contact through a local community association to provide all possible assistance to the bereaved kin," the post read.

One person was found dead in Clarence-Rockland and another was arrested. Authorities have not disclosed the cause of death or whether any charges have been filed.

The Ontario Provincial Police has advised residents of Rockland to expect a heightened police presence in the area, according to the report.
