3 killed, 8 injured in early morning mass shooting at restaurant in New York City

The incident occurred just before 3.30 am inside Taste of the City Lounge, located at 903 Franklin Avenue, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said.

Three people were killed and eight others were wounded when several gunmen opened fire inside a Crown Heights restaurant early Sunday morning, according to a report in The New York Times.

The incident occurred just before 3.30 am inside Taste of the City Lounge, located at 903 Franklin Avenue, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said during a press briefing. Police have so far identified 11 victims in total, including eight males and three females.

The three people who died were identified as two men, one 27-year-old and the other 35-year-old, while the identity and age of the third fatal victim have yet to be confirmed.

The eight surviving victims were transported to nearby hospitals, but the NYPD has not released information on the severity of their injuries.

As of now, no arrests have been made and the suspects remain at large. Investigators said that multiple shooters were involved in the attack and confirmed that at least 36 shell casings were recovered from the scene.

The police have said that the investigation remains active and ongoing, with detectives working to determine a motive and identify the shooters.

Taste of the City Lounge, which opened in 2022, is a business that serves American and Caribbean cuisine and also offers a full bar, hookah service, and live DJ events. The venue, which is located less than half a mile from the Brooklyn Museum, had reportedly closed at 3 a.m., shortly before the shooting occurred.
