Woman dead, son critical in stampede at Pushpa 2 screening in Hyderabad

The Pushpa 2 premiere in Hyderabad drew a massive crowd of Allu Arjun fans, but the event turned tragic when a stampede broke out, claiming the life of a woman.

The Pushpa 2 premiere in Hyderabad descended into chaos and tragedy on December 4 at Sandhya Theatre, Hyderabad as a massive crowd gathered to see Allu Arjun. Following a stampede-like situation outside the theatre, a 39-year-old woman died, and her son remain in critical condition. Arjun made a surprise appearance at the event, accompanied by heavy security and police protection.

The woman named Revathi (39), a resident of Dilsukhnagar, along with her husband Bhaskar and two children, Sri Tej (9) and Sanvika (7), went to Sandhya 70mm theater on RTC Cross Roads to watch the premiere show of Pushpa 2.

When Allu Arjun arrived at the theater, fans rushed inside in a frenzy to catch his glimpse. During the stampede that ensued, Revathi and her son Sri Tej lost consciousness. Police immediately shifted them to Durga Bhai Deshmukh Hospital in Vidyanagar.

Revathi was declared dead on arrival, while Sri Tej, whose condition was critical, was transferred to KIMS Hospital in Begumpet.

Revathi's body was later moved from Durga Bhai Deshmukh Hospital to Gandhi Mortuary.

Chaos broke out near the theatre around 10:30 pm on Wednesday when Allu Arjun made an appearance. The situation escalated into a stampede-like scenario as police struggled to manage the massive crowd.

After the screening, Allu Arjun was seen leaving the venue under tight security and police protection. He briefly waved to fans from the sunroof and urged them to clear the way for vehicles to pass.
