Senior journalist, writer, and acclaimed film critic Ajit Rai has passed away.

He breathed his last in London, leaving behind a rich legacy in journalism, cinema and theatre.

Rai was a prominent voice in the Hindi media and had dedicated decades to bridging the gap between Hindi readers and the worlds of theatre, art, and international cinema. His insightful writing went far beyond reviews—unpacking the social, cultural, and political dimensions of the films he critiqued.

Known for his presence at major global events such as the Cannes Film Festival and local initiatives like the Raipur Film Festival, Rai brought an international perspective to Indian film criticism.
