Singer Shreya Ghoshal has reacted to Arijit Singh’s decision to retire from playback singing, calling it the beginning of a new creative phase rather than the end of an era. Shortly after Arijit made the announcement on Instagram, Shreya commented on his post with an encouraging note, expressing excitement about what lies ahead for the singer.

“It’s the start of a new phase of @arijitsingh and I am truly excited to hear, listen and experience what this genius churns out!! I can never call this the end of an era,” Shreya wrote. She added that an artist of Arijit’s calibre cannot be boxed into traditional formats or formulas and encouraged him to “soar higher.”

On January 27, Arijit Singh, one of India's most recognised playback vocalists, informed his followers that he would no longer be taking new assignments in playback singing. The announcement, made through his official Instagram account, marked a significant shift in the landscape of contemporary Indian music.

In a detailed statement shared on Instagram, the singer thanked listeners for their love and support over the years and described his journey as “wonderful.” He clarified that while he is stepping away from playback work, he is not quitting music altogether.

“I am fan of good music and in future will be learning more and do more on my own as a small little artist,” Arijit wrote, adding that he would complete his pending commitments, which may still result in new releases this year. He also assured fans that he would continue making music in different capacities.

Arijit Singh’s announcement has sparked widespread reactions across the music industry, with Shreya Ghoshal’s message standing out for its optimism and faith in his evolving artistic journey.
