Netflix has unveiled the trailer for Lust Stories 3, bringing together four filmmakers and a new ensemble of actors for another anthology exploring love, desire, intimacy and the complications of modern relationships. The film is set to premiere on Netflix on September 18.
The third instalment brings together filmmakers Vikramaditya Motwane, Kiran Rao, Shakun Batra and Vishal Bhardwaj, with each director presenting a separate story. The ensemble cast includes Aditi Rao Hydari, Radhika Apte, Konkona Sen Sharma, Radhika Madan, Siddharth, Vijay Varma, Ali Fazal, Abhishek Banerjee, Sana Thampi and Gurfateh Pirzada.
Unlike a conventional film with one central storyline, Lust Stories 3 moves between four separate narratives.
The trailer hints at characters dealing with attraction, marriage, emotional confusion and questions around what they actually want from their relationships. The stories appear to approach desire from different perspectives, balancing drama with humour and uncomfortable conversations.
One of the trailer's striking moments comes from a conversation about women's desire. A woman compares women not to light bulbs that can simply be switched on and off, but to candles that burn and melt — a line that sets the tone for the anthology's exploration of intimacy and expectations.
One of the four segments brings Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth together.
Aditi's character appears to be at the centre of conversations around desire and how it is perceived. The trailer also shows her interacting with students, before a seemingly straightforward discussion takes an unexpected turn.
The segment is directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, who is one of the four filmmakers behind the anthology.
Another segment features Konkona Sen Sharma and Radhika Apte, alongside Vijay Varma and Abhishek Banerjee.
Their portions of the trailer bring some of the anthology's lighter moments, including a conversation involving characters named Min and Jin. The exchange takes an amusing turn when Radhika's character points out that they are in Kandivali, not Korea.
The segment is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane.
Radhika Madan and Ali Fazal appear in Shakun Batra's segment, which seems to centre on a marriage facing complications.
The trailer gives only glimpses of their relationship, leaving the details of their story largely under wraps. Their segment appears to explore the emotional messiness that can emerge when attraction and expectations collide within a relationship.
The fourth story comes from Kiran Rao and features Gurfateh Pirzada alongside newcomer Sana Thampi.
Like the other segments, the story forms part of the anthology's broader exploration of love, vulnerability, desire and human connection.
Together, the four segments give Lust Stories 3 four distinct cinematic voices rather than one continuous narrative.
Lust Stories 3 will premiere on Netflix on September 18, 2026.
The franchise began in 2018 with four stories directed by Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap and Dibakar Banerjee. Lust Stories 2 followed in 2023, with segments from R Balki, Konkona Sen Sharma, Amit Ravindernath Sharma and Sujoy Ghosh.
With its third instalment, the anthology once again brings together different filmmakers and actors to explore the messy, intimate and often unspoken sides of relationships.
