Actor Imran Khan has tendered an unconditional apology to the Bombay High Court and promised never to participate in protests in the future, saying he has "utmost love and respect for this great nation and its Constitution". The actor clarified that he had no intention of participating in the protest that triggered the controversy, claiming he was only present at the site to witness what was happening.

Khan's legal team, MZM Legal, submitted his signed unconditional apology and an undertaking through an affidavit before a bench comprising Chief Justice MC Tripathi and Justice Advait Sethna on Monday.

In his undertaking, Khan promised that he would neither participate in any protest in the future nor directly or indirectly influence or instigate others to join one.

"I shall not participate in any protest in the future, nor shall I directly or indirectly influence or instigate others to participate in any such protest," he said.

'UTMOST LOVE AND RESPECT FOR THIS GREAT NATION'

Explaining his position, the actor said he had spent 40 of his 42 years in India and had always followed the country's laws.

"In the last 42 years of my life, 40 of which have been spent in India, I have strictly adhered to the law and honoured the laws of this great nation in their letter and spirit," Khan said in the affidavit.

He also referred to his contributions through tax payments and employment generation, saying he had contributed to the country in his own small way.

"My life, profession and affiliation are all confined to this great nation," he said, reiterating his commitment to staying away from protests in the future.

SAYS HE WAS ONLY WATCHING, NOT PARTICIPATING

Khan maintained that he had no intention of participating in the protest and had only visited the site to see what was happening.

"I had no intent," he said, adding that he had never made any demands and was present at the protest site only as a spectator.

The actor expressed hope that his apology and undertaking would put an end to the controversy surrounding his alleged participation in the protest and the subsequent action taken by the authorities.
