Heeseung, who debuted as a member of ENHYPEN in 2020, is leaving the group, BELIFT LAB has announced.
On March 10, the label confirmed Heeseung's departure from ENHYPEN in a statement posted to the group's social media channels regarding “ENHYPEN's future activities," which was posted in Korean, English, Japanese, and Chinese.
“BELIFT LAB has given much thought and consideration [to] ENHYPEN's future direction and goals. Through in-depth discussions with each of the members about the future they envision and the direction of the team, it became clear that Heeseung has his own distinct musical vision and we have decided to respect it,” the statement read.
Heeseung “will be parting ways with ENHYPEN,” the statement said further, with the group continuing “official activities henceforth as a group of six members.” The remaining members are Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Ni-ki.
News of Heeseung's departure from the group comes as a surprise to many, which BELIFT LAB also addressed in its statement: “It’s difficult to relay the whole process through a short notice, but this decision comes after extensive deliberation. We understand that this news is a lot to process and may be received with mixed reactions. Nevertheless, we hope you understand that this decision was made for the future of ENHYPEN and Heeseung.”
Though he is exiting ENHYPEN, the statement confirmed, Heeseung will remain at BELIFT LAB as a solo performer. “Heeseung will be preparing a solo album as an artist under BELIFT LAB," the statement continued. "We ask for ENGENE's continued love and support for ENHYPEN and Heeseung as they start a new chapter of their journey.”
Shortly after the official announcement, Heeseung took to the fan platform Weverse to post about the situation in a hand-penned letter, written in Korean, for fans. In his note, Heeseung addressed fans directly, apologizing for the sudden notice. He also expressed gratitude for his time as a member of ENHYPEN, which he said was a dream come true that he will never forget.
Heeseung also explained that he has been working on his own personal projects for a while, but he didn't want those to take over his commitment to ENHYPEN; so, after much consideration, he decided to leave the group and pursue individual work.
News of Heeseung's departure from ENHYPEN comes just shy of two months after the group released its seventh EP, The Sin: Vanish, in January, with the lead single “Knife.” The group wrapped up the Walk the Line world tour in late 2025, after making its Coachella debut months prior. As member Sunghoon told Teen Vogue in February, the group is preparing for “an upcoming tour and also other activities that are lying ahead of us," though no official announcements have been made by BELIFT LAB.
