After months of speculation surrounding their marriage, Sunita Ahuja has withdrawn the divorce petition she had filed against actor Govinda, bringing a new turn to reports about differences between the couple. The development came after Sunita was recently seen visiting a family court in Mumbai with their son Yashvardhan Ahuja and their advocate. While she did not publicly disclose the purpose of her visit, Govinda’s manager Shashi Sinha confirmed that the divorce proceedings had been withdrawn.

Sinha also indicated that Govinda had not made any specific public reaction to the withdrawal. He expressed hope that any misunderstandings between the couple would eventually be resolved through communication and described the withdrawal of the petition as a positive development.

According to earlier reports, Sunita had filed a divorce petition at Mumbai’s Bandra Family Court on December 5, 2024, under provisions of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. Reports had cited allegations including adultery, cruelty and desertion in connection with the petition.

However, the couple's public appearances together later added uncertainty to speculation about the state of their marriage. Govinda and Sunita were seen together during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, while Govinda was also reported to have supported Sunita during some of her public appearances.

Sinha said he viewed the withdrawal positively but questioned the decision to initiate the legal proceedings. His comments reflected his view that disagreements within a marriage should ideally be handled within the family.

Sunita, meanwhile, has not publicly explained why she filed the petition or why she subsequently decided to withdraw it. As a result, details about what led to the filing and the circumstances surrounding its withdrawal remain unclear.

Govinda and Sunita married in March 1987 and have been together for nearly four decades. The couple have two children, daughter Tina Ahuja and son Yashvardhan Ahuja.

Their marriage was initially kept relatively private, although both have spoken about their relationship at different points over the years. Reports of differences between them have periodically attracted public attention, particularly because of their long association in the Hindi film industry.
