The teaser of Chand Mera Dil has landed with all the ingredients of a classic Dharma romance: youthful attraction, college setting, emotional highs, and a sense that the story is headed for heartbreak. Starring Ananya Panday as Chandni and Lakshya as Aarav, the film is directed by Vivek Soni and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. It is scheduled to hit theatres on May 22, 2026.

Released on April 7, the teaser opens with the promise of a “legendary” first love, but quickly shifts into a moodier space where passion and pain seem to go hand in hand. The short clip shows the couple’s romance unfolding through college moments, bike rides and intimate scenes, before hinting that the relationship may not survive the emotional storm ahead. The teaser also gives viewers a glimpse of the title track, which is composed by Sachin-Jigar, written by Amitabh Bhattacharya and sung by Faheem Abdullah.

Dharma’s caption on the teaser post underlined the same bittersweet tone, suggesting that not every first love gets a second chance. The film’s logline, as reported by multiple outlets, centres on Aarav and Chandni’s road to love, with the story reportedly revolving around two engineering students whose relationship deepens amid the chaos of university life.

Audience reactions, however, have been divided. While some viewers praised the chemistry between the leads and the emotional tone of the teaser, others were quick to compare it with Saiyaara, as well as films like Aashiqui 2 and 2 States. A few social media users even said the teaser felt inspired by Saiyaara, with one commenter calling it a “copy” and another joking that the film looked like a Saiyaara-style repeat.

At this stage, Chand Mera Dil seems to have achieved what every teaser hopes for: it has sparked curiosity, debate and a fair amount of online chatter. Whether the film can move beyond the comparisons and make its own mark will be clear only when it releases in May.
