Bhooth Bangla trailer: Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan reunite for a nostalgia-filled horror comedy, see release date

Between ghosts, confusion, and a never-ending wedding plan, Bhooth Bangla brings back Akshay Kumar’s on spot comedic timing.

Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan are back together, and the Bhooth Bangla trailer is already striking a chord with fans who have missed their classic comic timing. The upcoming horror comedy, which also features Paresh Rawal, Mithila Palkar, Rajpal Yadav, Wamiqa Gabbi, Tabu, and Jisshu Sengupta, is set to release on April 16, with paid previews beginning a day earlier at 9 pm.

The trailer opens on a fun, chaotic note, introducing Akshay’s character as someone who inherits a mysterious bungalow with a haunted jungle nearby. But instead of backing away from the spooky setup, he decides to stay put. The house, located in a place called Pisaach Van, is anything but ordinary, yet Akshay’s character keeps brushing off the warnings around him with his trademark comic confidence.

At the centre of the story is also a wedding track. Akshay is shown trying to get married in a village where no one seems to be able to tie the knot because of an evil force named Vadhusur. Paresh Rawal’s character repeatedly warns the others about the danger, while Akshay keeps turning the situation into comedy, adding to the film’s old-school flavour. The trailer ends with the much-anticipated moment when Vadhusur is accidentally awakened, even as Akshay continues to underplay the chaos unfolding around him.

For many viewers, the biggest attraction is not just the story but the reunion itself. Bhooth Bangla marks another collaboration between Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan after a long gap, following their earlier films Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhag, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, De Dana Dan and Khatta Meetha. That history is exactly what has made the trailer feel special to fans, many of whom described it as a throwback to a time when Bollywood comedy had a very different charm.

Social media reactions to the trailer have been mixed but lively. While some users felt the film’s setup reminded them of earlier horror comedies and said it felt familiar, others were far more excited about seeing Akshay, Priyadarshan, Paresh Rawal, and Rajpal Yadav back in one frame. One fan called it “pure nostalgia,” while another said the team looked like the “legendary comedy squad” Bollywood comedy had been missing. Rajpal Yadav, in particular, has caught attention for bringing back some of the lines and expressions that made him such a memorable part of Priyadarshan’s earlier films.

A few viewers also singled out the chemistry between Akshay and Mithila Palkar, with one scene in the trailer getting repeated mentions online. The reactions suggest that while some audiences are comparing Bhooth Bangla with other horror-comedies, many are simply happy to see a familiar comic team return with the kind of madcap energy they associate with Priyadarshan’s best-known work.

Akshay himself shared the trailer on X, building more buzz around the film. The line spoken in the trailer, welcoming viewers to a bungalow where nothing is quite normal, has also helped set the tone for the film’s blend of horror and humour.

With Priyadarshan at the helm and Akshay Kumar leading the cast, Bhooth Bangla is clearly being positioned as a return to a genre the two have handled well before. Whether it leans more into horror or comedy, the trailer has already done one important job, it has got audiences talking, debating, and in many cases, revisiting memories of the duo’s earlier hits.
