Filmmaker Aditya Dhar has reportedly moved to protect his position after writer-filmmaker Santosh Kumar RS accused Dhurandhar: The Revenge of copying his 2023 script, D-Saheb. Santosh has alleged that the Ranveer Singh-starrer uses the core idea of his story without permission and that he has proof, including registration documents from the Screenwriters Association.
According to a report, Aditya Dhar’s legal team has already sent Santosh a notice denying the plagiarism charge and asking him to stop making what it calls false claims. The same report says Santosh has maintained that what he received was only a reply to his email, not a formal notice, and that he is ready to fight the matter in court.
Santosh’s allegation is that Dhurandhar borrows from the central line of his script, which he says he wrote in 2023 and shared with several production houses. In earlier reports, he said he realised the similarity only after watching the film and argued that the project had been turned into something far bigger than what he originally intended. Aditya Dhar’s side, meanwhile, has rejected the charge and claimed the film’s story is an original idea, with the story reportedly registered in September 2023, earlier than Santosh’s registration.
The row has now become part of a much larger online conversation around Dhurandhar. Audience reaction has been split, with the film already facing criticism in some corners for its political tone, while other viewers and industry voices have continued to back the project and praise its scale and reach. In other words, the plagiarism allegation has landed in the middle of a film that was already polarising audiences. That is an inference from the broader reaction the film has been drawing online.
