Actor Awards 2026: The annual awards, voted on by working actors in Hollywood, delivered surprise after surprise on March 1, 2026, in Los Angeles. Presented by SAG-AFTRA and streamed live on Netflix, the ceremony celebrated performances across film and television but the biggest headlines belonged to one unexpected winner: Sinners and its star Michael B. Jordan. The film walked away with the award for outstanding performance by a cast, and Jordan took home the top lead-actor prize, upending pre-show predictions.

What made the night feel like a turning point was how these wins reshuffled Oscar-season narratives. One Battle After Another and filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson had been favoured in ensemble voting, and Timothée Chalamet was widely seen as the frontrunner in the lead-actor race but both were toppled by Sinners and Jordan, a result that pundits say could echo into the Academy Awards race. The joyful moment even drew a loud reaction from Viola Davis when Jordan’s name was announced.

Beyond the night’s upsets, the awards acknowledged a range of performances already building momentum for the Oscars: Jessie Buckley won best female lead for Hamnet, while supporting trophies went to Amy Madigan (Weapons) and Sean Penn (One Battle After Another). Big-budget stunt work was recognised as well, with Mission: Impossible The Final Reckoning taking home the film stunt ensemble prize. Sinners already a festival and awards circuit-favourite now arrives at the Oscars with even greater momentum.

Television honours followed a similar pattern of consensus and surprises. Comedy series The Studio dominated the comedy categories, while drama series The Pitt and its leads found favour with voters: Noah Wyle won for male drama performance and Keri Russell won for female drama performance. The late Catherine O’Hara was honoured posthumously for her work in The Studio; Seth Rogen also won for his turn in the same comedy. Stunt honours for television went to The Last Of Us.
