The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) has issued a Call for Papers in advance of its upcoming 6th Nadi Utsav, scheduled from 25 to 27 September 2025 in New Delhi.
Titled “Riverscape Dynamics: Changes and Continuity,” the national seminar invites submissions on a range of topics connecting rivers to ecological, cultural, and emotional narratives.
Participants are asked to submit an abstract of up to 250 words, with a 100‑word bio, five keywords, and a paper title, all compiled in a single document. The last date of submission is 6 July 2025, and entries should be emailed to nadiutsavignca@gmail.com.
The sub-themes of the seminar will include :
Traditional riverine knowledge and wisdom
River Gods and in folk narratives
The River in Art
Craft practices in and around rivers
Science and rivers
In previous years, Nadi Utsav has included a range of activities such as documentary screenings, visual art exhibitions, stage performances, and handicraft showcases. This makes the seminar not only academic but also creative and participatory, inviting people from diverse backgrounds and practices.
Jaano Junction’s audience, many of whom are rooted in riverine communities or engaged in environmental and cultural talks, may find this call for papers both meaningful and relatable. The theme brings together science, folklore, art, and heritage, bringing together diverse voices under the umbrella of river studies. If you’re an academic, writer, artist, craftsperson, or scientist interested in rivers, you have a great chance.
